Aberdeen's claim that James Maddison will extend Pittodrie loan deal is 'nonsense', says Norwich boss Alex Neil

Former Hamilton boss says no deal has yet been struck to extend the youngster's stay.

ALEX NEIL has rubbished Derek McInnes' claim that on-loan starlet James Maddison will be extending his stay at Aberdeen until the end of the season.

Reports yesterday said the Dons boss confirmed the 20-year-old playmaker would remain at Pittodrie until the end of the campaign but the Norwich City gaffer says that is "nonsense".

The under-fire Scot is facing pressure to bring back the talented midfielder back to Carrow Road after a run of 8 defeats in 10 Championship matches.

When asked if the claims Maddison would be staying north of the border were true, the former Hamilton Accies manager said: "Nonsense. James will be back here on Monday.

"I've spoken to Derek McInnes and I've spoken to James Maddison's agent. What we've said is, what happens in the window will determine where James ends up.

"Nothing's been done and nothing will be done unless it suits our purpose.

"If we decide it's the best thing to do then we will let it happen but if we don't then we won't."
