Rangers have revealed how a former talent scout was axed from the club after a teenager accused him of inappropriate behaviour.

Gordon Neely, who had previously talent-spotted for Dundee United and Hibs, was fired after a meeting with then-Rangers manager Graeme Souness and his assistant, Walter Smith .

Neely worked with the club between 1986 and 1990 before being binned.

The incident has emerged after police across the country probe allegations of historical sex abuse in football.

A Rangers spokesperson told The Scottish Sun on Sunday how Neely is believed to have spoken inappropriately to a teenager and the child returned home and told his policeman father.

It's believed the boy's father then demanded a meeting with Graeme Souness.

Neely was then called into a meeting with the club's management and was sacked from the Ibrox club.

He was not seen again in Scottish football, until his death two years ago.
