A STAR SPFL striker spent a night in the cells following a run-in with staff at a pub who accused him of watching their TV for an hour without spending any money at the bar.

Giant Kilmarnock striker Michael Ngoo, 21, had allegedly been watching his old club Liverpool’s match against Southampton on televison at Smiths bar in Ayr on Sunday afternoon.

And it’s alleged he became agitated when staff challenged him for not buying anything to eat or drink.

Police were called when the 6ft 6ins player was said to have refused to leave.

Ngoo, who signed for the Rugby Park side just a week ago on a two year deal, is currently staying at the Mercure Hotel next door.

He was charged by police for refusing to leave licensed premises when asked, resisting arrest and uttering a threat to a member of the bar staff.

On Monday morning Ngoo was taken to the cells beneath Ayr Sheriff Court and was expected to appear cuffed in the dock in the afternoon.

But at 2.15pm he was released from custody at the prisoners' entrance.
