CELTIC fans who allegedly attacked a Christmas tree were among 14 arrested in connection with the club’s Champions League clash with Manchester City.
Three men, one wearing a club scarf, were said to have damaged a tree at a pub in Deansgate, Manchester, at 11.40am yesterday.
City centre officers said another fan was handed a £90 fixed penalty notice after he was arrested for throwing a burger at a police horse in the city’s Piccadilly Gardens.
There were also problems on the Metrolink ahead of the match, with one passenger saying a fan let off a firework on a carriage heading to the ground.
Celtic, who drew the match 1-1, were bracing themselves for a UEFA fine after they were charged over fireworks and crowd disturbances at the stadium.
Smoke bombs were spotted after Patrick Roberts’s opening goal and at the end of the match.
Celtic fans also set off green flares in the stands after the game.
Uefa delegate Crawford Wilson noted the incidents in his report. A hearing will take place on February 23.
