EXCLUSIVE: Labour supporters 'jokingly' encourage a fellow student to gas, poison or burn his Tory housemates in 'Young Lefty Society' Facebook group

  • Young Labour supporters joke about gassing Tories in disturbing string of posts
  • Left-leaning student asked for advice on living with Conservatives at university
  • He was advised to 'burn down the house' or to cause a 'carbon monoxide leak'
  • It comes just days after a similar scandal engulfed the Tory party
  • In that case activists wrote messages saying Labour members should be 'gassed'

Young Labour supporters joked about gassing and poisoning Tories in a string of disturbing messages posted in a secret online group.

They made the suggestions after a left-leaning student sharing a house with three Conservatives while at university asked for advice on his living situation.

Among the responses were comments urging the student to 'burn down the house when they are asleep' or to cause a 'carbon monoxide leak'.

It comes just days after a similar scandal engulfed the Tory party when it emerged that young activists had written messages saying Labour members should be 'gassed'.

Replying to the post on the Young Lefty Society group, Thomas Llywellyn Wicks wrote: 'Burn down the house when they are asleep n (sic) do us all a favour.'

Another member of the group advised using 'rat poison'.

A self-proclaimed socialist added: 'Bath. Sulfuric acid. You know what to do.'

In another disturbing comment, one member suggested an 'accidental house fire' while Ben Taylor said: 'Carbon monoxide leak?'

The Young Lefties group requires that members are under the age of 30 and 'hold left wing views' - with the page's rules urging 'be nice to one another'.

But it is shrouded in secrecy with users warned not to screenshot each other's posts after being approved by a panel of administrators.

In recent weeks, the group has hosted posts asking members to rank their favourite communist leaders and a poll with the question: 'Is it okay to kill a child in the name of ones (sic) political ideals?'

Tory activist Tom Harwood, 21, who ran the student arm of the Vote Leave campaign, told MailOnline: 'It's sad that it isn't so shocking to see such hateful language coming from sections of the left.

'I've seen many personal attacks and it's often from faceless profiles because they won't put their names to these repugnant views.

'It's very interesting to see how much the left will open up when they think they're behind closed doors.'

Replying to the post on the Young Lefty Society group, Thomas Llywellyn Wicks, pictured, wrote: 'Burn down the house when they are asleep n (sic) do us all a favour'

When approached by MailOnline Mr Llywellyn Wicks stated: 'Oh god thats funny, I suggest you learn what a joke is me old china. If its (sic) worth anything I later revised my comments to "take a s*** in their beds".'

It comes just days after a group of young Tories were engulfed in a similar scandal when it emerged that they had swapped messages joking about introducing 'compulsory birth control on chavs'.

At the time a spokesman for the Activate campaign apologised for the offense caused by the 'sickening' messages and said that those behind them were being kicked out the group.

Previously, members of the Activate Group used the group's WhatsApp thread to joke about gassing 'chavs' and carrying out medical experiments on them

The row erupted just a day after the group - set up as a Tory rival to the Corbyn-supporting Momentum campaign - was formally launched online.

In a WhatsApp thread, members swapped highly offensive messages about 'chavs'.

One suggested it would be good to 'gas them all' while another replies 'gonna run some medical experiments on them'.

Another member of the group chat replied: 'We could use them as substitutes for animals when testing'.

The WhatsApp thread from when Tories faced a similar scandal shows members of the group swapping messages joking about 'shooting peasants' introducing 'birth control on chavs'

A fellow member wrote: 'To see why they are so good at producing despite living rough'.

Appearing to sense that the messages had crossed the line, they added: 'Okay we gotta be careful otherwise this is turning to a nazi chat.'

But another member continued, comparing chavs to 'vermin' and later suggesting 'Chavocide'.

A different member of the group thread suggested turning the Isle of Wight 'into a super prison' before another one adds 'Can we just introduce compulsory birth control on chavs?' alongside an emoji crying with laughter.
