Photos of 55-year-old Irvin Randle, an elementary school teacher from Houston, started surfacing on social media with the hashtag 'MrStealYourGrandma'.
In the images, the dapper grandfather sported a peppered beard and appeared in stylish outfits, and some even showed off his fit body.
Randle, who has two grandchildren, quickly garnered internet fame as the photos went viral, and now he says he is just about managing to cope with all the attention.
The grandfather had learned about his photos going viral through his friends and family, including his daughter Jessica who lives in Los Angeles.
He said he also received a call from a friend in Nigeria who told him his photos had garnered seven million likes there.

And in a recent Instagram post, he explained how he had overhauled his physique saying: 'I'm not a clean eating freak but I do my best to stay away from high fat junk food.
'I do eat fast food since I'm commuting daily but I choose the healthiest items on the menu. Watching your diet is not necessarily the fun part of fitness but it is required.'
Philip Dumas, 61
Sixty-one-year-old Dumas, who lives in Paris, made a last ditch attempt to achieve his ambition a year and a half ago when he posted images of himself on picture-sharing platform Imgur.
Featuring a collection of images showing himself in various sultry poses - and showcasing a beard than most millennial hipsters would envy - he quickly amassed over 360,000 views.
Captioning his portraits he wrote: 'Retired but not out, giving a last go to my lifelong dream of becoming a model, do I have it in me?'
