24-year-old State Representative Tim Baxter seeks 1st Congressional District Seat
One of the youngest candidates for Congress in the First Congressional District Republican race has positioned himself as a potential factor in what is expected to be a very competitive primary.
Tim Baxter, 24, is a first-term state representative from Seabrook. But, he said he is ready to represent New Hampshire’s First Congressional District in Washington.
“Especially as someone that’s young, I felt compelled to get involved in our political system to try to do my part to fight back against corrupt politicians. I’m a conservative fighter. I’m a staunch advocate for liberty and freedom,” Baxter said.
At the State House, Baxter has helped lead the Republican fight against vaccine passports. He also believes Dr. Anthony Fauci should be in prison.
“He lied about something the NIH did. The NIH funded gain-of-function research and he lied about it under oath to Congress, and he knew about it,” Baxter said.
If the redistricting process tilts New Hampshire’s First Congressional District seat in favor of Republicans, there could be several more GOP candidates that enter the race. But Baxter, who just announced endorsements from 32 fellow State Representatives, is laying the groundwork for a campaign that could be competitive in a crowded field.
According to Baxter, he said he has raised $100,000. That number will be known for sure after reports are released in mid-October. He has hired an experienced consultant who has worked both on the national level and on the local level in many races, according to WMUR political reporter John DiStaso.
“I don’t believe you should vote for me because I’m young or against someone, because they’re old, I think you should vote for whoever the best person is,” Baxter said.
