The nights are getting darker and the weather's getting colder which can only mean that Christmas is around the corner.

There are plenty of exciting events happening in the run-up to the big day in Carmarthenshire that are bound to get you in the festive spirit.

Here are the dates that you have to put in your diary.

Llanelli Christmas Carnival

Thousands of people line the streets every year for the Christmas carnival

 

When: Between 4pm and 9pm on Friday, November 22

Where: The parade will get under way at Festival Fields before heading into the town centre.

Festive floats will be taking to the streets of the town centre before the Christmas lights are switched on.

15,000 people are expected to head to Llanelli for the event, which will also see entertainment, stalls, a funfair and a fireworks display.

Santa Run

When: Between 9am and 11am on Sunday, November 17

Where: Llandeilo will host its first ever Santa Run this year which will consist of a 5k run around the town.

Registration will be open from 9am, with the race starting at 10am.

Pembrey Christmas fayre

When: From 10am to 4pm on Saturday, November 30 and Sunday, December 1

Where: Pembrey Country Park

The traditional Christmas fayre will be taking place over two days where there will be carols, stalls and a visit from Father Christmas.

Carmarthen Christmas market

When: Daily between Saturday, November 23 and Saturday, December 21

Where: St Catherine's Walk, Carmarthen

Back for its seventh year, the Christmas market will be showcasing a selection of local handmade crafts, arts, gifts and food.

Dinefwr Christmas fair

When: From Friday, November 22 to Sunday, November 24

Where: National Trust Dinefwr, Dynevor Avenue, Llandeilo

The mansion and courtyard will be filled with treats, gifts and stalls to get you into the festive spirit.

Carol singers, choirs and brass bands will all be on hand over the three-day event and Father Christmas will even be paying a visit.

You can even enjoy a luxury hot chocolate or a glass of mulled wine.

St Clears Christmas lights

When: Between 4.30pm and 7.30pm on Monday, November 25

Where: St Clears

The town will be getting a special visit from Santa as the Christmas lights switch on will see a children's treasure hunt, stalls, a choir and carols around the Christmas tree with a free mulled wine.

Reindeer parade

The reindeer parade returns to the town on Saturday, December 7

 

When: From 12pm on Saturday, December 7

Where: Llanelli town centre

Santa and his reindeer will parade through the town centre for the annual event.

The parade will start at 12pm from Ffwrnes and will end in Spring Gardens where you can get closer to the reindeer.

Live Christmas music and an ice sculpture demonstration will also be happening in Stepney Square following the parade.

Christmas pantomime

When: From 11th-15th December in Carmarthen and from 18th-24th December in Llanelli

Where: The performances in Carmarthen will be at the Lyric Theatre, while the Llanelli shows will be at Ffwrnes

This year's pantomime will be Cinderella and it promises laugh out loud comedy, stunning scenery and a magnificent cast.

Carmarthen Winter Wonderland

Winter Wonderland is coming to Carmarthen again this year

 

When: From Friday, November 22 until Sunday, January 5

Where: Carmarthen Park, SA31 3AX

The town's Winter Wonderland, which is the only one of its kind west of Swansea, will be returning for another year.

Ice skating, funfair rides, hot food and a Christmas market can all be expected.

New attractions this year will include a giant sky swing and an ice bar.

Carmarthen Christmas lights

When: From 6pm on Friday, November 22

Where: Guildhall Square, Carmarthen

The Christmas lights switch on in the town will coincide with the opening of Winter Wonderland this year.

There will be plenty of festive entertainment on the night as Father Christmas arrives on his sleigh before the lights are switched on.

St Nicholas Eve

When: Between 5.30pm and 9pm on Friday, December 6

Where: Golden Grove, Gelli Aur Country Park, Carmarthen, SA32 8LR

You can expect mulled wine, mince pies, turkey and stuffing rolls and soup, accompanied by Christmas music throughout the night.

Ammanford Christmas lights

When: From 3pm until 7pm on Saturday, November 30

Where: Ammanford town centre

The streets of Ammanford will be filled ready for the annual Christmas lights switch on in the town centre.

St Catherine's Walk Christmas lights

When: From 2pm until 6pm on Saturday, November 23

Where: St Catherine's Walk, Carmarthen

One Christmas lights switch on just isn't enough in Carmarthen with another planned at St Catherine's Walk too.

There will be plenty of family entertainment throughout the day before the lights are switched on at 5.30pm.
