A documentary highlighting the world of sex work has shown the lives of women making thousands of pounds a week having sex with strangers.
Channel 5's First Time Call Girl explored the lives of escorts from across the UK who get paid for their time and companionship, as well as why some women use it as a last resort.
Alexis, 22, a former Cardiff University Student says she signed up to become an escort due to the hassle of online dating apps. such as Tinder.
She signs up to Cardiff's largest escort agency and charges £150 an hour of which her boss, Lawrence, takes a 30% cut. The cut involves the fees of bookings and promoting her.
Escorting is legal in the UK, but agencies must operate under strict guidelines.
Lawrence says: "From our perspective, we're selling time and companionship. Anything that takes place inside the booking is mutually consented between you and the client.
"You've got quite a unique look, we'll present you as an ebony princess."
He then advises her on taking the money from the client at the start and to wear "expensive and classy clothing."
Experienced escorts, such as Cassandra from London, charge up to £500 an hour. If you'd like to book her for a weekend trip, she charges £6,000.
Alexis meets experienced escort Penny, who shares the same frustrations.
"I am single, I don't have a boyfriend so instead of using Tinder, I do this and make money," says Penny.
As the 22-year old eagerly awaits confirmation of her first booking, she says shes "nervous and impatient" and just wants to get it over and done with.
"If you told me five years ago 'you'll be selling yourself" I'd have been like oh my god, how am I going to feel after? But now, I've slept with so many guys and it's been crap, I want to do it for money."
A booking comes through from a regular at the agency and she shrieks in excitement.
After arriving back from her first booking with £100 cash in her hand, she reflects on a positive encounter, despite the man not being attractive.
She says: "I thought it might be sleazy or cheap, or that I might not like it. But it wasn't bad, despite the fact he was a lot older than me.
"I felt like I was on an expensive date, like I was this guy's wife almost, with the way he was speaking to me and treating to me.
"It was a bit awkward, I ended up shaking his hand because I didn't know what to do. But when I finished it felt so good to have the money in my hand."
A national survey of sex workers highlighted that over half had experienced violence on the job. But Alexis is confident she can defend herself.
"The one thing that would put me off escorting is if someone hit me. But I can probably fight, I know I can fight back."
Alexis though, is a hit among men and was booked by a 72-year-old client who took his clothes off and consistently asked if she found him sexy.
"I don't think I could do that booking again, He was a nice guy but when he asked if he looked nice, I thought he looked so shrivelled and old."
Although many sex workers embrace the lavish life style and the designer clothes that come with it, many live a loney life and only interact with their clients.
Kat, a 32-year-old from Manchester, started off in the adult industry at the age of 18 making 40 films. This past though, has stayed with her and often leads to men asking her for a "porn star experience".
Despite receiving more than 60 texts a day, Kat says she is lonely. She doesn't speak to many family or friends and wants to have children and a normal nine to five job.
However, the start of Alexis' career has made her feel empowered and she is enjoying her new job.
She added: "There's been no moment where I've thought 'this is not OK, I need to stop.
"I feel like escorting is going to be the way I scrap the image I have made for myself and other peoples expectations.
"These last four weeks have been amazing, I feel like a new woman."
