What can I use to support nursery learning at home?

Looking for ideas for activities to keep your kiddos entertained? Use this nursery home pack to keep your nursery class busy if they are learning from home. This lovely resource is bursting with creative and engaging activities that nursery children can do with their parents whilst home learning. The pack contains a range of activities that focus on different areas of learning and will ensure that children continue to practise skills and reinforce learning whilst they are away from nursery.

This nursery home learning pack is to download and use at home with your nursery children to keep them busy. There are more handy packs for little ones, like these Nursery Rhymes Printable PDF & Activities to help you learn all about nursery rhymes with them.

Included in this pack are simple craft ideas, phase 1 phonics activities, cutting skills practice, activities for 2D shape, scavenger hunts, games and much more!

All our resources, including this Nursery at Home Activities Pack, are created by experienced practitioners, teachers and early years specialists. They’re designed specifically not to just be bags of fun, but to engage your little ones across their learning aims in alignment with the curriculum. The activities that you’ll find in the pack will encourage your little learners to refine their fine motor skills, develop their early literacy and maths skills, and more!

Why might my child need to learn from home?

Very rarely, schools and nurseries may need to close. This can happen for a variety of different reasons, including polling days, adverse weather or sickness. It's no easy task keeping nursery children engaged whilst learning, hopefully, we can offer a helping hand with this nursery home learning activity pack. For more home learning resources, take a look at this collection of EYFS home learning resources and these Interactive EYFS PDF Collection!

When you find that your child's nursery has closed, you may wonder how you can continue to engage your child in fun educational activities at home. This pack will provide you with a wide range of activities that will allow them to practise skills and learning at home until their nursery is able to reopen.

You could use this All About Me Activity Booklet. These are great to use at home as parents know their child better than anyone! Along with this, we have a Maths and Literacy Activity Booklet to help your little one keep up with staple skills in these two areas.

What are fun nursery home learning activities?

As well as using some of the lovely activities in this pack, there are many other fun and educational things you can do at home to keep your child busy and engaged whilst learning at home. Children of nursery age will enjoy things like:

  • Baking: This is not only a fun activity to have something delicious to eat, but is also a great exercise to develop early maths skills with all the counting, weighing and measuring.
  • Building a den: A lot of us have nostalgic memories of getting some blankets, clothes pegs and making a cosy nook!
  • Painting/Drawing: Not only is this excellent for developing fine motor skills, but also encourages all our budding artists to express themselves.
  • Reading stories: Develop early literacy skills through the power of imagination!
  • Puzzles: Cultivate a little mindfulness in the middle of a busy day!
  • Going on a minibeast hunt: In our digital age, time away from screens has become increasingly precious despite its bountiful benefits. Get outside in the great (or humble) outdoors as often as you can!
  • Playing simple games: We know this great site called Twinkl that has a fabulous range of teacher-made interactive games (wink, wink).
