ENGLAND fans are being investigated over chants of a "possibly discriminatory" nature during their 2-1 loss to Croatia last night.

Fifa said: "We can confirm that a report has been filed in relation to chants of a possible discriminatory nature by English fans.

"Proceedings have been opened against The Football Association."

"No Surrender" has been sung on the terraces for years and is an anti IRA song.

It is unclear whether its lyrics would breach FIFA's rules on discrimination.

It is claimed the tune has been heard at all of England's games in Russia but was heard much more prominently during last nights defeat.

The Three Lions went ahead in Moscow, but were pegged back by Ivan Perisic's equaliser before Mario Mandzukic's goal sent their opponents through to Sunday's final against France.

Yesterday FIFA fined the FA £50,000 after Eric Dier, Raheem Stirling and Dele Alli ignored a warning telling them to stop wearing "unauthorised socks".

The lads wore branded ankle supports over their official Nike socks.

This was deemed to have "breached media and marketing regulations and the Fifa equipment regulations".

England will be in action again against Belgium on Saturday for the third place playoff in St Petersburg.
