Gok Wan hits out at ‘rude’ Virgin Trains after manager told him off for cleaning his table and reminded him he was in first class
FASHION guru Gok Wan delivered a furious dressing down to Virgin Trains yesterday - in a row over rubbish in first class carriages.
The TV stylist posted a string of angry messages accusing staff of bullying him for trying to clean up litter in the private section.
After sharing a picture coffee mugs stuffed with a banana skin, yogurt pot and tissues, Gok told his 1.7million Twitter followers: “I am DISGUSTED by your service on the Leeds to London train this morning! “The train manager has just embarrassed me in front of other passengers, just because I tidied up my table! Business is tough, no one can afford to loose customers! He needs retraining!”
He was riled by a jokey member of the company’s customer service team when they responded: “Oh no, apologies Gok We really do appreciate the help haha! Hope this has been moved for you now! Have a good journey :) ^HP”
The presenter, 43, claims he was again blasted by staff when the train manager told him off for putting rubbish in the cups, adding: “Remember, this is first class.”
He bit back: “I suggest your train manager gets some customer service training. He was obnoxious, sarcastic and embarrassing - simply cos I put a tissue and a banana skin in my cup! He said to me “Remember, this is first class.” You can let him know, I know it’s first class, I bought my ticket!” (sic)
Gok was travelling on the 9.16am Leeds to London Virgins East Coast service on Tuesday.
One way tickets in first class on the route can cost up to £164.
The customer service assistant eventually apologised and arranged for a colleague to meet Gok upon arrival.
He added: “Finally pulling in to London. Never been so glad to get off a train. @Virgin_TrainsEC what a horrible experience.”
One person responded to Wan: “Wow! Unbelievable!! Can’t do right for doing wrong sometimes.”

Others also blasted him for whinging, with one tweeting: “Pretty gross for train staff to have to clean up after you if this is how you “clean” your table.
“The staff are lovely & friendly maybe you are just too sensitive & need to learn some table manners.”
Former Coronation Street and Loose Women star Denise Welch was previously embroiled in a Twitter spat with Virgin after complaining about spending £413 on a first class journey – only to be left without hot food and drink when a boiler broke.
