Liam Payne left gobsmacked after being named Twitter’s most influential man – pipping Donald Trump to the post
LIAM Payne has been named the most influential man on Twitter in 2018.
The former One Direction star, 25, took to the social media site on Wednesday to thank his fans for their support after he beat US President Donald Trump, who came second.
Posting a picture of a chart of the influencer rankings, singer Liam wrote: “Wow can’t quite believe this. Couldn’t have done it without you… thanks for listening.”
His delighted fans were quick to respond with congratulatory and supportive messages, with one person writing: “It’s not only because of your songs, but also your actions, your support towards associations and important events. We are so proud of you! You legend.”
Another fan responded: “No Liam thank YOU for just simply being you. I wish you knew how much I appreciate you as a person. You never disappoint and I just f**king love you with my entire heart.”
One other devotee posted: “Thank YOU for being an absolutely amazing angel & using your platform for improving so many lives. We love you.”
And another follower replied: “But also @LiamPayne it's your kind loving intellectual mind and heart that got you this. You're one of a kind you've got great things to say and you use your platform so wisely for it. Every bit is so well deserved.”
The other well-known people visible on the chart Liam posted on Twitter had all placed on the list last year but Liam was not listed at all back then and is a new entry this year.
Donald Trump, the 45th President of the United States, charted in second place behind the pop star, remaining in the same place as 2017.
Meanwhile, Liam reportedly wants his ex Cheryl Tweedy to use her knowledge and influence within the music industry to pursue a career as a music manager after her comeback single flopped.
The 25-year-old dad met his son's mother when she was a judge on The X Factor, and witnessed her guide young pop stars to success on the ITV show.
It has been claimed he suggested she would do well as a music boss, with a source telling Closer: "His advice was that if she didn't want to carry on performing, she should go into music management."
The insider added: "Liam has told her to ignore the haters and focus on the people who love her.
"He's told her not to give up and that together they can try again."
However, Cheryl, 35, is determined to cling on to her career as a pop star.
