PS5 UK stock updates – Smyths restock ‘within days’ as Argos and Amazon work hard to get PlayStation 5 consoles on sale

- Best time to buy a PS5 revealed

SMYTHS will drop PS5 stock soon with consoles available to buy in just two weeks time.

The PlayStation 5 console has been listed with “Out of stock. Expected in stock: May 2021” on the Smyths Toys website, meaning it could be just a matter of days before the resupply.

Meanwhile Amazon might be the only retailer with PS5 stock later this month, according to a stock tracker.

The account tweeted: “The PS5 stock being released this month is relatively low... Amazon is the only retailer that may drop next week but nothing can confirm it.

And on the Argos website, it says the retailer is “working hard” to make the elusive console “available as soon as possible”.

Follow our PS5 live blog below for the very latest news, updates and stock drop rumours...

  • STOCK UPDATE

There is no stock expected to go up for sale until the second week of May.

  • MAP MAYHEM

Call of Duty is about to embark on a brand new season – and a big change to Warzone has been leaked.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that Warzone’s Verdansk map is being remade. Activision has already confirmed Call of Duty Season 3 is incoming.

The new season officially launches on April 22 – that’s tomorrow. We’ve already learned much about what we’ll see, including new maps, weapons and Operators.

But a Twitter leak named WarzoneNews has leaked alleged details about a Warzone revamp.

  • AMAZON MIGHT HAVE PS5 STOCK THIS MONTH

Amazon might be the only retailer with PS5 stock later this month, according to a stock tracker.

The account tweeted: “The PS5 stock being released this month is relatively low

“Amazon is the only retailer that may drop next week but nothing can confirm it.

  • PS5 ‘HAS SAME BATTERY FAILURE ISSUE’ AS PS4

Playstation 5 owners are in for some bad news as experts say the console has the same battery failure issue as the PS4.

The CMOS battery issue can stop players accessing digital games if your console is affected.

Hardware and games tester Does It Play? tweeted about the issue.

It referred to the issue as a “cbomb”.

It tweeted: “A kind volunteer has dismantled their PS5 to test #cbomb for us and the initial results confirm that PS5 is also affected. Initial results indicate that all digital games will cease to work in a #cbomb scenario.”

  • RARE POKEMON GAME TO FETCH £1000

A rare Pokémon video game is expected to sell for more than £1,000 at auction.

Research revealed it to be an early production of the game and has a slightly different box to the more common later edition, Raymonds Press Agency reported.

The 1998 unopened Nintendo Gameboy will go under the hammer at Hansons Auctioneers, of Etwall, Derbyshire, in July.

  • BUILDING BLOCKS

Smyths has over 50 Lego sets currently reduced to clear in stores across the UK.

The Lego sets have up to 75% off, with prices starting from as low as £5.

  • CALL OF DUTY SEASON 3 RELEASE DATE – WHEN IS IT OUT?

Call of Duty is due another season very soon.

These seasons are major events, introducing new storylines, as well as maps, weapons, modes and more.

The latest is 2021 Season 2, and arrived on Thursday, February 25.

And that means Season 3 will begin very soon.

Each season usually lasts around two months, so we’d likely get Season 3 towards the end of April. Activision typically gives notice for these big updates, so we could find out about the new season this week.

  • MEMORY UPGRADE

The PS5's 825GB memory drive leaves players with 667GB of usable space on which to store games and other files – and that fills up pretty fast.

Sony announced a couple of ways to expand your console's storage last year, but one only became available this week.

Players can now plug USB drives into their machines following a software update issued by the gaming giant.

It means you can install more games before running out of space.

  • OVERHEATING HELP

Believe it or not, your PlayStation 5 has an ingenious design flourish to stop the console from overheating.

Two pockets known as dust trays that sit behind the main faceplate collect dust sucked up by the cooling system.

It's worth removing the face plate and cleaning out the trays every once in a while with a vacuum to keep your console clean and quiet.

That'll help to avoid overheating issues and extend the lifespan of your machine.

It does not guarantee that your console will be free from dust, however.

  • PS5’S FIRST MAJOR UPDATE INCLUDES USB STORAGE, NEW SOCIAL FEATURES

With the PS5’s first new major update, come a bunch of exciting new features and tweaks to existing features.

The first and biggest addition to the PS5 is the ability to save games on compatible external USB drives, Tech Raptor reported.

Players will also be able to Share Play together, so that PlayStation 5 players can view their PS4 friends’ games and vice versa.

Players will play co-op games together virtually as well. You’ll also be able to request to join a game session on the PS4, which is great for the unlucky souls that haven’t been able to acquire the PlayStation 5 just yet.
