David Silva set to captain Man City for final season at Etihad after Kompany exit
DAVID SILVA will be handed the captain's armband for his 10th and final season at Manchester City.
The Spaniard revealed he will end his hugely successful stint at the club at the end of this upcoming campaign.
City have yet to officially announce their new captain following Vincent Kompany's departure back to boyhood club Anderlecht.
But the Mirror report that manager Pep Guardiola will reward the 33-year-old with the armband as they look to be crowned Premier League champions for a third consecutive year.
Silva would often captain the side in the absence of Kompany last season.
The veteran is now City's longest serving player since his £25million move from Valencia in 2010.
He will be regarded as one of the club's most successful and greatest players with 10 pieces of major silverware.
The Champions League title still eludes Silva and he will be desperate to end his stint at the Etihad with club football's biggest prize.
Silva has yet to decide where he will end his career although he has hinted at joining hometown club Las Palmas.
The playmaker added: "I would like to do that but I just don’t know.
"Football changes. But I would love to finish my career here in Las Palmas one day.
