Manchester United and Manchester City both target Kyle Walker and Danny Rose in £60m transfer battle for Tottenham duo

The two marauding full-backs have only recently signed new deals at White Hart Lane, so it would take huge offers to snap them up

JOSE MOURINHO will take on Pep Guardiola in a bid to sign Spurs’ flying full-backs Kyle Walker and Danny Rose.

The Manchester United boss wants his club to push the boat out with a sensational £60million move for BOTH England internationals.

Walker and Rose, both 26, have been in outstanding form over the past 18 months and can operate effectively as wing-backs or in a flat back four. City have been keen on the duo since Guardiola’s move to the Etihad was first mooted two years ago.

But Mourinho, whose United take on Hull in the first-leg of the EFL Cup semi-final at Old Trafford on Tuesday, is determined to put a spanner in his great rival’s works.

Former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss Guardiola knew it would take two summer transfer windows to re-build City in his own image.

And he had always planned to recruit full-backs this year with left-sided Rose his No 1 target.

Walker and Rose both signed new five-year deals at White Hart Lane worth around £70,000 per week early this season.

And neither has a release clause in their agreements — so either Manchester club would need to pay in excess of £30million per player to even tempt Tottenham.

There appears little chance of Spurs chairman Daniel Levy selling both players in the same summer. But he might be willing to cash-in on one if there is a serious offer on the table.

Rose, who has 12 England caps, cost Spurs just £1m when he joined from Leeds in July 2007.

He was subject of a bid from Chelsea in the summer of 2015.

And French giants Paris Saint-Germain have had their scouts keeping an eye on his progress.

Right-sided Walker, who has played for his country 23 times, followed Rose to London in 2009 in a £9m deal from Sheffield United that also included fellow defender Kyle Naughton, who is now at Swansea.
