KASPER SCHMEICHEL is out of Leicester's lunchtime clash with Manchester United - and the Champions League home tie with Porto on Tuesday.

The Danish keeper has suffered a recurrence of a groin problem after undergoing a minor hernia op and is also set to miss next Sunday's home game with Southampton.

Schmeichel, 29, after being sidelined for the last two games, was hoping to be back for today's trip to face his father Peter's former club but he has been told by medics to rest further.

Ranieri said ahead of the clash: "He felt a little pain to a muscle.

"It is to the muscle. I don't know now. He said to me 'I feel something here' and I said 'OK'.

"I am not a doctor but the concussion is OK."

The fact Schmeichel will miss the club's first European game at the King Power is also a blow for boss Claudio Ranieri.

German keeper Rob-Robert Zieler, who arrived in the summer from Hannover, will keep his place in the team.

If Schmeichel is ruled out for next weekend, as seems likely, he will not play for Leicester again until the Premier League match against Chelsea on October 15.

Meanwhile, United skipper Wayne Rooney fears he will be axed for today's heated encounter.

Rooney, 30, under performed against Watford last weekend and boss Jose Mourinho reckons he is now a "broken man".
