Arsenal transfer news: Jack Wilshere poised for AC Milan move after telling Gunners he wants loan move away from Emirates
Serie A giants appear favourites to clinch Wilshere's signature after tabling loan offer with £30m option to buy as 24-year-old goes in search of regular first-team football
JACK WILSHERE is being lined up for a sensational transfer deadline day move to AC Milan.
Arsenal star Wilshere is keen to leave The Emirates in search of regular first-team football after falling out of favour this season.
And Italian giants Milan have stepped in with the offer of a season-long loan deal at the San Siro - with a £30million option to buy him if things work out.
The Rossoneri believe the 24-year-old can play a major role in the heart of their midfield under new manager Vincenzo Montella.
And they are putting together a loan package with the option of a permanent transfer to blow away their rivals in the chase for his services.
Serie A rivals Roma have signalled their interest, while Crystal Palace have also made it clear they would happily take Wilshere for the season.
But it is the prospect of playing for one of the powerhouses of European football that looks to be the most exciting for one of England's most unfulfilled talents.
Wilshere has been earmarked for a big career ever since he established himself as a regular for Arsenal as a teenager.
He became a key player for club and country early in his career, only for a succession of ankle injuries to blight his progress.
Those problems now appear to behind him, but his lack of match sharpness and time on the sidelines has seen him fall down the pecking order at Arsenal.
News he could be available this summer alerted a host of clubs in the Premier League and in Europe.
But the Gunners are understood to be reluctant to let him leave on a loan basis to join one of their rivals for the title.
That would leave Wilshere facing joining a club fighting in mid-table, and Arsenal facing paying half his wages.
Milan should be able to cover the majority of his salary, and letting Wilshere move to Europe would be more attractive to Wenger.
It would also be a move that offers Wilshere to develop his game in a new country - something that would benefit both him and potentially the England national team.
But a fit and in-form Wilshire performing at the top level in Europe would be of huge benefit for Allardyce and the Three Lions.
