A MAN has been stabbed to death after a baseball bat fight in London.

Officers were called to Cavendish Road in Edmonton on Wednesday at around 6.30pm to reports of a fight between men armed with baseball bats.

A 20-year-old was found at the scene with stab wounds and was later pronounced dead, with the total number of murder investigations launched in London this year reaching at least 81.

The arrested boy, aged 16, has been taken to hospital for treatment and will be questioned later, Scotland Yard said.

"At this early stage officers retain an open mind as to motive," a force spokesman said.

Crime scenes remained open in nearby Brettenham Road and Cameron Close and officers have informed the man's next of kin, he added.

The stabbing in is the latest bloodshed in Lawless London as the capital's knife epidemic continues to spiral.

So far in 2018 there have been 1,296 stabbings in London up to the end of April, according to official statistics from the Met Police.

At least 51 people have been fatally stabbed in London since the beginning of the year, with the latest fatality a 15-year-old boy killed in Romford, East London on Saturday, June 23.
