RUST BUCKET

Police pull over driver using a bucket as a seat and pliers for a steering wheel

Is this the worst car ever to drive on UK roads?

COPS stopped a car and found it had no steering wheel and the driver using a bucket for a seat.

The messy-looking Peugeot 206 was pulled over because it was missing a front bumper and a side section and its tyres were flat.

Stunned officers discovered the driver was using a pair of pliers to steer it — while perched on an upside down bucket, balanced on the chassis.

The car — which had not had an MoT since 2015 — was stopped on Thursday in King’s Lynn, Norfolk. The county’s Roads Policing & Firearms Unit tweeted:

“Driver will be reported for too many offences to mention.”

Mechanic Oliver Green, at Collect Service Go in Welwyn Garden City, Herts, said: “This is not only a danger to himself but a danger to others”

Social media users aired their disbelief at snaps of the crazy car.

Sgt Dave Thubron wrote: “That’s truly insane”.

And ex-cop Alecia Louise called it “the ultimate in stupidity”.

What a fixer-upper

A FINE example of a “fixer-upper” car here. I like the modifications — they’re worthy of a Max Power centrefold.

Steering wheel-free driving is being worked on in top secret labs by the likes of Mercedes and Jaguar. But this enthusiast has nailed it already.

And it brings a whole new meaning to the term “bucket seats”.

Unnecessary weight, such as a front bumper, has been stripped away for faster lap times. And if you can’t afford slick tyres, do what this chap’s done — let them go bald and flat. Grip for days.
