Driver’s fury after his £14,500 Skoda Fabia needed £40,000 worth of repairs

A DRIVER branded his new car the worst in Britain after it cost £40,000 in repairs.
Craig Cheshire bought the Skoda Fabia with just 106 miles on the clock for £14,500 in 2012.
Since then it has needed three new engines, five sets of alloy wheels, a water pump, throttle and supercharger.
This year the drive shaft has fallen off and a hole was found in the gearbox.
Craig, 34, said: “It’s a piece of junk — the worst car in Britain. And even that doesn’t do it justice.”

Craig, of Newport, has been back to dealers with the motor 35 times.
He has lost track of the repair bill but reckons it is £40,000. The majority of the cost was covered by warranty but when that ran out in March he was hit with a £4,471 bill for replacing the gearbox, which he says he cannot afford.
Craig, unable to work because of his back injury, said: “I asked for my money back but they insisted on repairing it. They’ve wasted so much money since then.
“I just want my money and my life back. I’ll never buy a Skoda again. It’s been a living nightmare.”
A Skoda spokesman said: “We will be investigating.”
