Apple launches new MacbookPro and sneakily increases price of existing range by 20 PER CENT

Tech giant appeared to blame post-Brexit currency woes for huge increase in prices

APPLE has suddenly hiked the prices of its Mac products by as much as 20 PER CENT.

Tech like the the Mac Mini and iMac have shot up by hundreds of pounds after the release of the latest £1,500 MacBook.

The company appeared to blame the price rise on Brexit-related currency woes and fears over EU trade.

The US giant put the starting price of its Mac Mini up to £479, £80 more expensive than it was just days ago.

Its popular Mac Pro shot up by £500 from £2499 to £2999 -- a 20 per cent hike.

The iMac 4K was £1199 just days ago, but now costs £1449.

And the 5K model is now as much as £1749, a £300 increase on its original £1449 price tag, tech site Gizmodo reported.

In a statement given to the site, an Apple spokesperson said that prices were set based on "several factors".

They include "currency exchange rates, local import laws, business practices, taxes, and the cost of doing business".

The pound has crashed against the dollar in the wake of Britain's vote to leave the EU.

Its latest exchange rate has fallen by as much as 27p to the dollar -- a drop of over 18 per cent.

The Sun Online has contacted Apple UK to comment.

The new £1,499 MacBook Pro will come with either a 13 inch or 15 inch screen and will be the thinnest ever made, with the smaller model weighing just three pounds with a thickness of 14.9 mm.

The all metal computer comes with a thin display called a "Touch Bar" which will sit where the row of function keys appear on a traditional keyboard.
