Celtic-daft ex-SPL chief Mitchell says he can’t see Rangers surviving coronavirus crisis financially
ROGER MITCHELL has insisted he can't see Rangers surviving the coronavirus crisis - as he claimed they're in 'dire financial straits'.
The Celtic-daft former SPL chief then asked if the Light Blues could take the rest of Scottish football with them.
The Premiership season is currently on hold as the world continues to deal with the threat of the coronavirus pandemic.
Hampden bosses have already called an early end to the Championship, League One and League Two campaigns after clubs voted for it.
But Mitchell, who is now based in Italy, reckons the situation could be a difficult one for Rangers.
He claimed on social media: "I just get a strong feeling with these delays that @RangersFC aren't going to make it.
"They were already in dire financial straits. I can't see how they survive this covid black swan.
"The question is: do they take the whole of Scottish football with them?! Critical days!!!"
This isn't the first time Mitchell has questioned the Ibrox club's financial situation.
In July last year, he fired off a 17-tweet rant as he asked: "Are Rangers going bust again?"
He later admitted to being "more than half cut" as he made the posts on social media.
SunSport have contacted Rangers for comment.
Meanwhile, Rangers are expected to present their evidence against the SPFL and their handling of the recent season-ending resolution to their fellow clubs.
The Light Blues initially promised to share the "dossier" with their counterparts yesterday, but this was pushed back.
Hampden bosses have already agreed to hold an EGM next week after the Ibrox club, Hearts and Stranraer demanded one.
And Rangers hope to get the support for an independent and wide-ranging investigation into the whole issue.
