It is the oldest of the 3,319-strong fleet, with 94 others aged over ten years, Lib Dems said.
Critics likened the retro wheels to BBC flashback dramas Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes.
Liam McArthur MSP demanded the Nats invest in the force.
The Lib Dem said: “People will be surprised to learn the police still own a vehicle from 1989. Maybe it is an Audi Quattro.”

3-4 yrs — 599 vehicles
4-5 yrs — 738 vehicles

It is understood the 28-year-old vehicle — used for specialist operations — has a relatively low mileage for its age.
Police refused to give details but it could be a mobile station deployed to murder scenes for days at a time.
