Gutted punters who were planning to visit the popular bar over the weekend suddenly discovered their plans had been scuppered as a result.

And an eyewitness revealed online that they spotted guests being forced to leave the bar before it was shut by police.

Raging Scots told on social media how their bookings were axed with less than 24 hours notice, despite paying large deposits.

Another said: “Our table was cancelled for tomorrow with less than 24 hours notice after paying £140.”

One frustrated customer said to The Scottish Sun he received a text saying his visit had been cancelled due to “unforeseen circumstances”.

But they added that their deposit had been successfully refunded by Quay Garden.

The pub was also criticised for failing to notify guests on Facebook that they had been forced to close suddenly.

One person wrote: “We’ve just been cancelled too, think there should be an announcement on the page, we only booked yesterday too was looking forward to it.”

The venue is known for its food and drink packages - with pricey deals that start at £30 per person.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We attended a venue on Paisley Road West, Glasgow around 7.55pm on Friday 16 July.

“Two men, aged 35 and 51, have been reported for licensing offenses and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal."

Quay Garden has been contacted for comment.

Glasgow City Council has also been approached for a response.
