Rangers news: Jim Traynor attacked by bigots as cops probe sectarian assault
RANGERS media boss Jim Traynor was attacked by two bigoted yobs 'because of his position at the club'.
According to The Daily Record the Ibrox PR chief, 66, claims his 'position at Ibrox was what sparked the assault' in Cumbernauld on Wednesday afternoon.
A source said: “He was set upon by two thugs shouting sectarian abuse. It was an outrageous attack.
“The guy was minding his own business and they just appeared and targeted him on the street.
“It’s disgraceful that this could happen.”

The attack on Mr Traynor comes amid a rash of accusations of racial and sectarian abuse aimed at footie stars in Scotland.
Last night police confirmed officers were called to reports of an assault on a 66-year-old man in Cumbernauld at around 3.15pm on Wednesday.
A spokeswoman added: “Our inquiries continue.”
This week Gers hit out after a 12-year-old boy was arrested over allegations he’d racially abused star Alfredo Morelos.
The club said: “When a player is at the centre of an abuse claim he is treated with respect and sensitivity and given support.
"That is certainly the case in England, but not here and most certainly not with Alfredo Morelos.”
Police and Kilmarnock chiefs launched a probe into claims Morelos was also abused during his team’s 2-1 midweek loss at Rugby Park.
Traynor joined Gers in 2012 when Charles Green was Ibrox chairman.
The club announced he would be head of media and oversee their digital, online and TV channels plus print publications.
He had earlier worked as a sports journalist for a number of newspapers as well as being a pundit and presenter for BBC Radio Scotland.
