HEARTS have condemend the moment their fans belted out a sick sectarian chant before their clash with Hibs yesterday.

Video footage showed Jambos fans singing 'f*** the Pope and the IRA' as they marched to Tynecastle ahead of the Scottish Premiership match.

Fans as young as kids can be seen marching in the group while the chant is being sung.

The fans belted out the chants before kick-off in Gorgie yesterday, while they were walked to the ground by police officers.

And Hearts have reminded their supporters of their duty to behave.

A Jambos spokesperson said: "The Club would like to remind supporters that they represent Hearts when outside the confines of Tynecastle Park and, therefore, should act appropriately.

“It goes without saying that the Club disapproves of sectarian singing in the strongest possible terms and action will be taken if any such inappropriate behaviour is displayed inside the stadium.”

Scotland's leading anti-sectarian charity slammed the chanting.

Nil by Mouth Director Dave Scott said: "You have to wonder about the mentality of  people who get up on Boxing Day and proceed to belt out this sort of garbage on their way to a football match.

"It’s a safe bet Santa didn’t leave them MENSA memberships under the tree.

"Those involved will no doubt claim it shows how much they love their club whilst in reality it simply shows them as ignorant, arrogant fools."

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "We are aware of footage online and enquiries will be carried out to establish the full circumstances."

Martin Boyle grabbed a derby day double as the Hibees coasted to victory over Hearts.

The attacker superbly finished from a Scott Allan looped ball into the box after just five minutes.

He notched his second of the game on the half hour after running through on goal and slotting the ball low beyond Hearts No1 Joel Pereira.

Defeat for Stendel's side leaves them rooted to the bottom of the Premiership with just 12 points from 20 games.

For Hibs, they climb into fifth spot ahead of today's 3pm kick-offs.

We told earlier how Hibs took a swipe at rivals Hearts after today's 2-0 Edinburgh derby win.

Earlier this month the Jambos took a cheeky dig at Jack Ross after confirming Daniel Stendel's appointment at Tynecastle.

Their club statement included a sentence highlighting that the German led Barnsley to a second-placed finish in English League One ahead of Ross' Sunderland side.

However, the Hibees have had a dig of their own after claiming the bragging rights in the capital this afternoon.

They wrote on Twitter: "Our new Head Coach, Jack Ross, leads Hibernian to victory over Daniel Stendel's Heart of Midlothian at Tynecastle Park.

"Purely for context, we are 13 points ahead of our noisy neighbours."

The tweet went down a storm with the Hibees faithful who hailed the social media admin for his post.

We also told earlier this year how cops were called in after a newlywed bride and groom led chants of "f*** the Pope and the IRA" as they entered a packed wedding party.

More than one million people watched footage which spread on social media showing the couple chanting the words as they entered to Tina Turner's Simply The Best.
