The “Gucci Model Challenge” Is Taking Over TikTok

With TikTok’s new “Gucci Model Challenge,” teens are adding their names into the running for  Gucci’s next campaign. This unofficial model casting that's taking over the popular app uses a fair share of imagination and a lot of layers of colorful clothing to get the point across. 

Under the #GucciModelChallenge hashtags, which has st the time of writing amassed over 7.9 million views, thousands are posting convincing videos that offer a peek at what could very well be the next generation of Gucci models. Not to mention, they are all a lesson in how to layer, which comes in handy now that fall is just around the corner!

All Gucci Model Challenge videos feature original audio by none other than Chilling Adventures of Sabrina star Lachlan Watson (aka. @unofficiallachwatson). In the audio, Lachlan outlines how to build your Gucci-approved ‘fit. The audio nails the formula to looking like a Gucci model and it all starts with a colorful turtleneck and ends with Gucci’s signature (and A$AP Rocky-approved) silky headscarf. The headscarf is “very crucial and a Gucci staple.” Lachlan's original video has, unfortunately, become unavailable.

Gucci is notorious for their unconventional castings, from utilizing their own employees to model their Epilogue 2020 collection to including former supermodel and now activist, Bethann Hardison in their Pre-Fall 2020 lookbook and we think it's about time they start tapping into these stylish teens! Put your creativity to use and try out for yourself, who knows? Alessandro Michele might be watching! And if you're not trying to be a Gucci model, these vids are a great way to brainstorm upcoming looks or just pass the time, honestly!
