Ayr United striker, Lawrence Shankland, scored yet another brace this afternoon in an action packed 3-3 draw with Ross County.

The 23-year-old’s penalty and close range finish came in the space of four first half minutes, and looked to be sending The Honest Men to yet another win in the Scottish Championship.

However, second half strikes from Billie McKay and Don Cowie earned The Staggies a point.

Shankland entered today’s match with a spectacular strike rate of a goal every 83 minutes in the league. By the interval, he had already ensured that stat had been improved upon.

He now has a staggering 28 goals in all competitions this season, and its still December.

Yet, according to an interview quoted in the Daily Record, he wont be pushing for a move away from Ayr next month.

The boyhood Rangers fan is out of contract in the summer and therefore available on a free. In this form, though, it may be worth offering The Honest Men a fee they can refuse in order to get him over the line sooner.

Today’s performance ensures he’s still flying, and he shows no sign of stopping any time soon.

It seems Shankland is happy at Ayr, but a concrete offer from his boyhood club may change his circumstances.

One thing is for sure, if Rangers don’t move quickly, half of the clubs in British football will be after him in the summer.
