Plymouth Argyle transfer news: Ruben Lameiras to stay at Home Park? Nicky Maynard linked with Pilgrims move

Plymouth Argyle are being linked with a move for Bury striker Nicky Maynard.

The 32-year-old striker scored 22 goals for the Shakers as they finished runners-up to Lincoln City in League Two last season, but the club's financial issues means he and all of his team-mates could be on their way out of Gigg Lane.

Maynard is a proven striker at League Two level and has scored goals almost everywhere he has been.

Having graduated from Crewe Alexandra's famed Academy, he joined Bristol City in a £2.25m deal in July 2008 after scoring 35 goals in just 67 games for his local club.

The goals continued at Ashton Gate where he notched 46 in 131 appearances before joining West Ham United for £1.65m in January 2012.

Maynard spent just seven months as a Hammer, scoring four goals in 17 appearances before he headed back along the M4 corridor and joined Cardiff City in a £2.5 million deal.

However, Maynard suffered badly with injuries whilst in south wales and made only 26 appearances in three years, scoring three times. He was released in the summer of 2015 and went on to play for MK Dons and Aberdeen before joining Bury last summer.

In just a year at Bury, Maynard scored 22 times in 41 appearances for Bury and was a key part of their promotion from League Two.
