The Lebanese government has lifted the ban of Lady Gaga‘s second studio album ‘Born This Way’ it had imposed in the country.
Thousands of copies of the album, which is currently at Number One in the UK albums chart, were impounded by Lebanese authorities late last week after it was deemed “offensive to Christianity” by the nation’s General Secretary Department, which said it took the decision “on grounds of bad taste.”
But this has now been overturned and the government has announced that the album can be sold freely in the nation’s shops. According to The Sun, a spokesman for the Lebanese government said: “The CD has received approval for entry and distribution in Lebanon.”
It is believed that protests from the singer’s fans led to the ban being overturned, along with a realisation from the government that the album was available freely online anyway.
‘Born This Way’ has so far achieved the Number One spot in 28 different countries.
