Hartside Top Café destroyed by fire

1 of 1

The popular Hartside Top Café, located on the A686 near Alston in Cumbria and claimed to be England’s highest café at 1904ft above sea level, has been destroyed following a fire that broke out yesterday afternoon.

If you have ridden the A686 across the North Pennines, you have probably stopped at the Hartside Top Café for a cuppa. But sadly the fire has caused severe damage, destroying the building’s roof and causing extensive damage to the rest of the building. Thankfully, no-one was hurt in the fire and an investigation is now underway to establish the cause of the blaze.
