Carlos Tevez has taken to Instagram to share an image of himself in a classic Manchester United shirt and the picture evoked a strong reaction from fans of both Manchester clubs.

Tevez moved from United to Manchester City in a controversial transfer back in 2009, becoming one of the few players to have donned both the blue of City and the red of United.

He won the league with both clubs and he is regarded as a Premier League legend, having netted over 100 goals during his time in England.

On Friday night, the Argentina international took to Instagram to share an image of him in an old United shirt as part of a giveaway.

"Win my United jersey !!! to participate you only have to comment here what other shirt you would like me to draw, follow me and tag a friend !! I will give it away when we reach 1.7M followers. Good luck !!" Tevez captioned the post.

Both United and City supporters were unimpressed by Tevez's post and shared their disapproval of the veteran forward as images of the former United and City player resurfaced on Twitter.

@seernevets: United fan. He can take that shirt off and stop the disrespect.

@scott_laraway: Hes just a merc. He would of played for Liverpool as well if the offer was there.

@PobWarby: Basically saying to Citeh fans that United know how to make decent 3rd kit shirts.

@WillWatson777: Think everyone dislikes him in Manchester

@MohammadAlsaya5: The only thing all fans agree about Tevez is that he's a money dog ... He'll go anywhere for a bit more money

Tevez spent five years in Manchester. He is currently 37 years old and was an active player at Boca Juniors last season, but was released by the club this summer.
