Everton haven't bought or sold a single player so far this summer - with new boss Marco Silva making it clear he wants quality rather than quantity.
"I don't want, and the club doesn't need, to sign a big number of players," he said on the day he was unveiled as Blues boss. "It's not what we need to do, we need to sort out the number of players first and then be assertive and attack the market, take the right decisions and sign the right players for us to come here to improve our squad."
But that hasn't prevented various media outlets linking Everton with a batch of transfer targets.
Some outlets claim Everton have lodged bids, some claim the Blues are "poised" to swoop while others suggest the Toffees are "monitoring" targets.
So what is the real story behind all the links?
We've cut through the hype to tell you what's actually going on.
William Carvalho
The first - and most constant name, linked with the Blues this summer, because the midfielder has worked with Silva before at Sporting Lisbon ... and wants to leave!
But Italian media claim Inter Milan have already agreed a £2.5m a year package with the player.

Whoever takes Carvalho, it will be a complicated move, with the Portuguese Players' Union have saying a court will eventually have to decide if the seven Sporting Lisbon players who want out are able to walk away from the club.
That hasn't stopped Wolves, mind, who have already snapped up goalkeeper Rui Patricio subject to international clearance.
James Maddison
Sky initially linked Norwich's player of last season with Everton, but we believe that was because he was a player who former director of football Steve Walsh admired.
Leicester City, however, were always in the box-seat for the midfielder and will complete a move today.
Gelson Martins
Another of the Sporting Seven with the Daily Telegraph telling us Everton "want to sign" the winger. However, our enquiries suggest exactly the opposite.
Matthijs De Ligt
An 18-year-old Ajax defender, he featured in the same Telegraph article as Gelson Martins, but our enquires received exactly the same response. Everton are not chasing the youngster.
Niclas Fullkrug
German media confidently stated Everton had bid 22million euros for the Hannover 96 centre-forward. They haven't. And apparently Hannover don't even want to sell a player who is under contract until 2020. One to file under the "agent trying to stir up interest" category.
Hirving Lozano

Marcel Brands is the man who brought 'Chucky' Lozano to Europe last summer - and the SIX-YEAR contract PSV offered underlined that they thought they had captured a talent worth persevering with. Top scorer in his first season at Eredivisie justified that thinking, and Brands understandably won't talk publicly about any Everton interest.
Of course Everton are interested, but Lozano has made it clear he won't talk about his future until after the World Cup, which is a shame because any potential transfer fee has already escalated after his sweetly taken strike against world champions Germany.
Marvin Plattenhardt
“Good left-backs are in demand. But Marvin concentrates on the World Cup first. Everything else will be discussed after the tournament,” said the Hertha Berlin defender's agent.
Everton are not expected to be amongst the clubs discussing any move.
