Lazar Markovic could finally leave Liverpool for Moscow

Anfield's forgotten man could be heading for the Russian capital with both Lokomotiv and Spartak showing an interest

Five Things About Lazar Markovic

Liverpool winger Lazar Markovic could be on his way to Moscow.

Lokomotiv and Spartak have both expressed an interest in ending the Serbia international’s unhappy spell at Anfield.

Markovic is surplus to requirements under Jurgen Klopp and has accepted that he needs to move on during the January window in order to kick-start his flagging career.

Liverpool are open to offers for the 23-year-old, who has entered the final 18 months of his contract.

Premier League strugglers West Brom, who face the Reds in the FA Cup on Saturday, are also understood to be considering an approach.

Markovic cost £20million from Benfica in July 2014 but has never looked like justifying that hefty price tag.

He scored three goals in 34 appearances in the 2014/15 season but hasn’t played for Liverpool since the win over QPR in May 2015.

Markovic had loan spells at Fenerbahce and Sporting Lisbon before joining Hull City for the second half of last season.
