James Rodriguez trained with Everton during the international break

Carlo Ancelotti banking on James Rodriguez for European push

James Rodriguez returned to Everton training on Thursday.

The Colombian has not featured since starring in the victory over Liverpool at Anfield last month yet Carlo Ancelotti remained confident he would make his comeback to the starting line-up after the international break.

James was pictured using the ball at Finch Farm but it remains to be seen at what stage his comeback is at, with one image showing the former Real Madrid playmaker in conversation with Ancelotti.

Allan, Richarlison, Niels Nkounkou, Mason Holgate, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Yerry Mina and Michael Keane all worked together during the session alongside Everton assistant manager Duncan Ferguson.

Tyler Onyango and Kyle John joined in while a new face was added to the goalkeeping contingent with Jordan Pickford injured and Zan-Luk Leban on international duty with Slovenia under-21s.

Jack Barrett, who joined Everton as a nine-year-old, trained alongside regular under-23 goalkeepers Harry Tyrer and Nico Hansen.
