Eight Premier League clubs oppose neutral venues as Everton and Liverpool could face Project Restart delay

The Premier League's bottom six have seen two more sides join their opposition to the neutral venues plan

Liverpool, Everton and Premier League clubs set for crunch talks

Up to eight Premier League clubs are set to argue against the use of neutral venues and will call for Project Restart to be pushed back.

The bottom six clubs in the division have already made their unhappiness with the neutral venues plan clear but The Telegraph reports that two more clubs, both significantly higher in the standings, have joined with their opposition to the plans.

There is a fear that the Premier League is being rushed back prematurely and questions remain on the approach if a player tests positive for the virus, with Brighton confirming a third player had tested positive and has entered a 14-day isolation period.

The Premier League are set to meet in their latest video conference on Monday, following Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s address to the nation on Sunday evening, in what could be a highly-charged discussion.

It is expected that the Premier League will continue to present their plans for bringing live football back in the coming months, before a decisive vote the following week that would make or break their proposals.

92 matches in the top-flight still need to be played and neutral venues have been widely reported as being likely to be used, with uncertainty over the government would grant approval for the use of home stadia due to concerns of fans gathering outside of the venues.

While encouragement could be found from Germany, which is due to return to action in their top-two divisions next weekend, the biggest issue has been shown by the fact that second-tier side Dynamo Dresden have placed their entire first-team squad and coaching staff in quarantine for 14 days due to an outbreak.

As such, they have informed the DFL that they will be unable to play the first two matches after the restart and, with a packed fixture schedule already in place, it is unclear when the matches will be rearranged for.
