Left-wing Labour members are preparing to ramp up the pressure on Mayor Joe Anderson and his Everton stadium plans at a meeting tomorrow night.
Members of the city branch of Momentum - the left-wing organisation loyal to Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn - plan to raise serious questions about the council's plan to loan Everton around £280m to help it create a new stadium at Bramley Moore Dock .
The meeting is one of a number that could be held by Liverpool Labour members in the coming months.
Two of the city's Constituency Labour Party groups - in West Derby and Walton - have already passed motions demanding that a city-wide meeting of members is held to discuss the plan.
Mayor Joe Anderson has already stated that any final proposals to help fund the major stadium plan will come back before a meeting of the full council for scrutiny - as well as other council committees - before any final agreement is signed.
But if other Labour CLPs follow in the footsteps of those in West Derby and Walton, it could pressure Mayor Anderson to hold a major meeting in front of thousands of members.
Everton's new stadium
Tomorrow's Momentum meeting is perhaps another example of the now very powerful left-wing of the party in the city applying pressure when it comes to public policy and major decisions.
West Derby party member Richard Knights will be speaking on the stadium issue at tomorrow night's meeting.

He said: "There should be consultation with all Labour Party members in Liverpool over the Everton Stadium deal.
"Is this too large an amount over too long? Is it an investment or property speculation?
"This meeting is Momentum there is also pressure from CLPs to call an all members meeting.
"Labour Party members want all the facts on the table. Will the TV money last? Accountability is crucial."
Mr Knights said he has 'no problem with a new stadium' but questions whether the council should be taking such risk in terms of the loan.
But Mayor Anderson has repeatedly said the deal will be 'fanastic' for the city and the cash-strapped council.
Speaking earlier this year he said: “It doesn’t just benefit the North of Liverpool but the whole of Liverpool because Liverpool City Council will benefit hugely from the investment we make and the financial return that we get and that’s where the fight against austerity comes in.

“The benefit we receive as a City Council enables me to pay for services like social services, keeping Sure Start and libraries open and it’s that type of innovation and that type of invest-to-earn and invest-to-save that means we’re proud to enter in that deal with Everton Football Club."
He added: “It will stimulate growth and new business in the Liverpool North Dock area, it will compliment and supplement what we’re doing with the Ten Streets scheme to the tune of around £300m in business rates and new business rates coming into the city in 10 years’ time.”
The Momentum meeting will take place tomorrow evening from 7pm at Jack Jones House in Churchill Way.
