Disabled woman abused by stranger on train over face mask in sickening attack

The shocking video shows the woman and her sister being repeatedly abused by a fellow passenger

This is the moment a disabled woman and her teenage sister were abused by a fellow passenger on a Merseyrail train for not wearing a mask.

Karolina Pakenaite, 24, who is partially blind and deaf due to Usher Syndrome, was verbally attacked after her sister Saule, 16, temporarily removed her face covering so that Karolina could read her lips as she spoke to her.

The two sisters were travelling with Karolina's guide dog on the train from Liverpool Central to their home in Southport on Thursday, July 16.

In the video, which was released by the disability charity Sense, a woman sitting opposite the sisters shouts: "She's not deaf blind, because you're talking to her."

Karolina's sister says: "She's got Usher Syndrome. Google it." while Karolina says: "I've got a guide dog."

But the woman responds: "You're taking the p**s, you."

She claims Karolina was not disabled because she was talking, and says: "You've got to wear the mask."

Karolina and her sister try to explain the syndrome, but the stranger replies: "Deafblind, my a**e."
