Leeds United fans are in for a treat this weekend as the city continues to celebrate the club's promotion to the Premier League.

The wild celebrations outside Elland Road and in Millennium Square may have calmed down in recent days, but there are still loads of discreet signs of celebration all over Leeds.

And over the next two days, there will be yet another nod to the Whites heroes who were crowned Championship title winners a week ago, with the installation of the Leeds United Champions Trail in the city centre.

Lifesize cut outs of the first-team squad will be dotted across a number of locations in Leeds to ensure that fans can celebrate with their favourite players and get a selfie - all while ensuring they maintain social distancing.

In fact, there will be 19 separate cardboard cut outs of the players at Trinity Leeds, Kirkgate Market, Merrion Centre, Victoria Leeds, Millennium Square, Briggate and five other secret spots.

The trail is being installed by Leeds sports agency, Banana Kick, in conjunction with the club and Leeds City Council.

Gary McCall, chief executive of Banana Kick, said: "Leeds is our home and we love sport, so we wanted to do something special to mark this momentous promotion while at the same time help attract more people into the city centre.

How to purchase our souvenir print edition to celebrate Leeds United's promotion

On Friday, July 17 Leeds United were promoted to the Premier League, bringing their 16-year top flight exile to a close. The Championship title followed the very next day, ending a 28-year trophy drought.

Wins against Derby County and Charlton Athletic followed before skipper Liam Cooper hoisted up the Championship trophy, as the party atmosphere continued across the city and beyond.

To mark such a momentous occasion in the club's recent history, LeedsLive are going into the print for the very first time and producing a special 40-page promotion souvenir edition.

A season like this deserves to be remembered, so we will bring you our best work from the 2019-20 campaign, along with fresh analysis, features and insight from our Leeds United team of Joe Mewis and Beren Cross.

"We'd love for fans to come down wearing kit and colours to add to the experience across the city.

"The beauty about this is it is spread out so while we’re hoping thousands will venture out, people won’t need to congregate in one place.

"It’s also completely free, so it gives fans and families something to do while supporting the wider city centre and the many businesses that may need a helping hand there."

The Leeds United Champions Trail is taking place from 10am until 6pm on both  Friday, July 31 and Saturday, August 1.
