And just like that, South Africa are out of the CWC 19 and they join Afghanistan who suffered the same fate yesterday after their defeat against India. Still, 2 games to go, but it has been a really disappointing tournament for the Proteas. Pakistan, on the other hand, can take a breather as they look up to bigger challenges ahead on their road to the semis

Too good for a no. 10 batsman! 140+ bowling around the wicket and Wahab Riaz is bringing back old memories as Ngidi is bowled for just 1 to his name. PAK just one wicket away from a victory while SA are staring at another unceremonious exit from yet another WC

South Africa are in freefall here at Lord's having just lost their 8th. A reverse-swinging full toss from Wahab Riaz crashes into the middle pole as Rabada hits thin air. Phehlukwayo is at the other end but the required equation is now too tough for even his more accomplished fellow batters

It most probably won't be reflected in the end-result but Phehlukwayo is playing a little gem of an innings here. If only SA had more wickets in hand than the 3 they have currently. Phehlukwayo punishes Pakistan's best bowler in CWC19 for two back-to-back boundaries but SA still need 72 off 24 at an astronomical required rate of 18

Is this the final nail in the coffin for SA as Morris is castled by Wahab Riaz with a 92mph yorker. Full and straight, turning inwards and kisses the leg-stump sending the PAK fans into a frenzy. There is not much happiness in the Proteas dressing room though

Both the all-rounders are going for the target, trying to clear the boundary at every chance they get. But you do feel that they just have been left too much to do. SA need 88 off 36 balls and they only have 4 wickets in hand. The Cup is slipping away for Faf and his men

This could be the game right here! David Miller goes for an ugly swipe and misses, Afridi hits the stumps and leaps in pure joy. With only Chris Morris left as a recognized batsman, the end looks near for SA. They will indeed need a miracle from the all-rounder to chase this

The pressure of the chase has got to Dussen as he goes for a heave over mid-wicket off Shadab but only manages to find the toe-end of the bat and the ball is skied towards cover where Hafeez judges the catch perfectly taking a tumbling grab. SA sink further

van der Dussen bends down on one knee and swings hard off a length delivery from Afridi and deposits it over the mid-wicket boundary for a SIX! It's time for Pakistan to pull their socks up, first in fielding and also in bowling

Miller is showing PAK that the drop could prove very costly by drilling a cover-drive for four off Afridi. Still, a mountain left to climb for the SA batsmen but they should be looking to make it big after the reprieves

Riaz to Miller, FOUR. A much needed boundary for South Africa at this time as they need almost 10 in every over. Imad Wasim has bolwed his quota of 10 overs. Though he has picked no wicket but he proved to be reasonably economical with 48 runs. Mohammad Amir and Shadab Khan bothe have 3 overs left.

It is a do or die clash for both the teams. South Africa are in a state of bother after their captain' exit as the required run rate has shot up above 10 for them. It looks good for Pakistan after the ends of 34 overs. Some fireworks from Miller and Dussen could only save South Africa now.

Amir to Miller, DROP! Amir bowls full and David Miller is taken aback with the bounce. The ball goes back to Amir as he catches it first but drops when his right elbow hits the ground. That makes it his second drop of the game. Though is being consoled by Wahab Riaz for his effort.

Amir to du Plessis, OUT. Caught by Sarfaraz. Amir returns for his 5th spell after a break and strikes once again. Amir bowls good length outside off and du Plessis fails time it well and ends up getting a top edge to send the ball really high in the air. Sarfarz gets enough time to get under it to send back du Plessis for 63!

Shadab Khan to van der Dussen, FOUR. A mistimed shot from Dussen went really high in air but Amir at the long-off couldn't collect it. Though he got his hands to that but lost his balance in the end as he came running to pick that one.

Shadab Khan to du Plessis, 1 run. du Plessis runs a single to bring up his 34th ODI fifty and second of the tournament. The captain remained rooted though he has lost 2 partners so far. He now needs to convert his knock into a hundred.

Three clean overs from Pakistan after Quinton de Kock departed. They were in dire need to break the partnership and Shadab Khan did that for his side. However, Faf du Plessis has settled at the crease and he has the potential to guide his side through the middle overs.

Shadab Khan to de Kock, OUT. de Kock slog sweeps that in order to go big but gets caught. The soft singal was out but the umpires, after some conversation, sent to the third umpire for the final call. The review showed Imam, at the deep square leg, managed to get his fingers underneath the ball to send back de Kock.

Aiden Markram, right handed batsman, comes to the crease.

Riaz to de Kock, FOUR. Wahab Riaz goes too wide and de Kock punishes him for a boundary towards the point. de Kock goes big in the next delivery as he sends the short ball over the fine-leg for a maximum.

In the 15th over of the game when Imran Tahir bowled a full lenghth delivery to Fakhar Zaman, the Pakistan opener walked across to the off side in order to scoop it but he failed miserably as the ball jumped off his gloves only to land in the hands of Hashim Amla at slip. Shadab Khan to de Kock, SIX. Shadab Khan takes his first over and de Kock gives him a glimpse of one of his favourites-- a slog sweep. Khan bowls a full and we see the first six of the second innings.

Imad Wasim to de Kock, FOUR. A beautiful lofted drive from de Kock to the extra cover to begin Wasim's over with a boundary. The partnership between de Kock and du Plessis is taking a good shape as Pakistan look for another breakthrough.

Imad Wasim to de Kock, FOUR. First boundary for de Kock with a cover drive and this should definitely enhance his confidence in playing some good shots further. SA 51/1 (12 ovs) vs PAK 308/7 at Lord's. de Kock (17*), du Plessis (31*

Shaheen Afridi to du Plessis, FOUR. The captain flicks the full length in style for a boundary past the mid-on fielder. du Plessis managed to get a boundary in the last ball of the previous over too. Though Quinton de Kock looks struggling a bit but du Plessis is keeping it going for his side.

Shaheen Afridi bowls full length, outside off as Faf du Plessis edges that to the point. Shadab Khan dived to his left but it was too difficult for him to get that. Shadab manages just two fingers to the ball as he looks in pain in the effort to pull off a remarkable catch.

Shaheen Afridi leaked 8 runs in his last over but he came back better to give away 3 in the next over. After three singles in the first three balls, he bowls three dots. du Plessis did not take any risks with the angled deliveries as there was a slip in place for him.

Shaheen Afridi to du Plessis, FOUR. du Plessis welcomes the 19-year-old with a boundary to the fine leg boundary. The captain ends the over in style too with another boundary to the covers. 8 runs from that over. Amir to continue from the other end.

Mohammad Amir has proven to be Pakistan's go to bowler in this World Cup when they look for wickets or to halt the run flow. The left-arm pacer gave Pakistan their first wicket in the first ball of the second over and came back in the third over to bowl a maiden over. Can Pakistan do it for themselves? Could they save themselves from elimination?

Amir to Amla, LBW OUT! The original decision was not out but Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed referred the third umpire as Mohammad Amir looked confident about it. The replays showed the ball pitching in line and the hitting the top of the leg stump.

Hafeez to de Kock, DROPPED. Looks like there is no end to Pakistan's poor fielding woes as Wahab Riaz drops de Kock at mid-on. de Kock tried to play the flighted delivery over the mid-on but ended up playing flat as Riaz dives but fails to get to his hands under the ball.

Quinton De Kock and Hashim Amla have started the run chase for South Africa as Hafeez takes the new ball.

The last over saw Lungi Ngidi picking up two wickets as Riaz was clean bowled and Haris Sohail holed out after a blistering 59-ball 89. Pakistan must be happy with the total and now it is upto the bowlers to defend this total and bring them back to winning ways in World Cup 2019.

OUT! Lungi Ngidi strikes again as Wahab Rahab is castled on 4. Riaz was through with the slog too early and missed the ball completely. Ngidi is elated but more importantly, it is a dot ball. Pakistan are 304 for 6 (49.1 ov) vs SA at Lord's.

Imad Wasim holes out with two overs left. Still, his 14-ball 23 has helped give Pakistan a strong finish. Imad mistimed the shot as JP Duminy (sub) took a brilliant catch after covering a decent amount of ground. What can Pakistan make in the last 12 balls?

Haris Sohail has smoked the ball over deep mid-wicket for a SIX. Tahir can only stand and see the ball sailing over him for a maximum. Imad Wasim plays a cheeky shot off Kagiso Rabada for a boundary. Imad swivels on the back leg and pulls it fine enough for a four.

What is wrong with South Africa? They have been horrendous in fielding. This time Imran Tahir fails to get his hands to a high catch as Haris Sohail survives. In the last over, Haris had amassed 16 runs off Phehlukwayo.

Andile Phehlukwayo is the man to remove the big fish Babar Azam. Babar, who was playing well-timed innings, is caught out at deep cover by Lungi Ngidi. Another good start wasted by Babar Azam as this was his second 50 plus score tournament. Babar Azam c Lungi Ngidi b Phehlukwayo 69(80).

Babar Azam almost chopped Phehlukwayo's first delivery. Azam went for that dab shot. It came back in and clipped the inside edge, evaded the off-stump by a whisker.

Babar Azam waits for the delivery and guides it towards the third man boundary for a four and brings up 200 for Pakistan. Haris Sohail is playing a gem of knock here. He is showing what Pakistan has been missing in the World Cup 2019 till now. Having forged a solid 50 plus partnership with Babar Azam, Sohail is scoring runs with a strike rate of over 150.

Babar Azam completes his half-century off 61 balls with a single off Chris Morris. His 2nd fifty of the World Cup. He has looked good with the willow and Pakistan will hope he converts this into his first World Cup century.

Haris Sohail slammed Kagiso Rabada for a classic boundary and beautiful SIX. Sohail smoked the ball over deep backward point for a maximum after punching a classic shot down the ground for a boundary

Babar Azam looks set for a much due ton against South Africa. For South Africa, Imran Tahir has been sensational today and his three overs will be crucial. Babar flicks Markram through his pads for a boundary and takes 9 runs from this over.

Haris Sohail stays in the crease and drives the length ball with a lot of class and elegance as it races to the fence for a boundary. This was the first over after drinks and Kagiso Rabada conceded 6 runs off it. A boundary, a single and a wide completed the 33rd over of Pakistan innings.

Mohammad Hafeez tried to sweep the ball and was struck plumb in front of middle and off. Hafeez was asking Babar Azam for the review but both the batsmen couldn't decide in the allotted time frame about taking DRS. Pakistan are three down for 143 after 30 overs in Birmingham.

Aiden Markram comes into the attack and delivers a fine over as he concedes just two runs from his first over. Mohammad Hafeez and Babar Azam are looking set after Imran Tahir removed both Pakistani openers at regular intervals.

More than half of the World Cup 2019 is over and we are yet to find out the final four teams that will battle it out in the semi-finals of the showpiece event.

Hafeez seems to be riding his luck here as he survives a DRS review off Tahir. It looked plump to the naked eye when Hafeez's swipe missed th ball completely and it ended up hitting him the stomach. But SA reviewed more based out of Tahir's over-confidence but the replays show that the ball would have bounced over the stumps. SA also lose their review which is not good news for the Proteas

As if learning from that reprieve, Mohammad Hafeez eyes this full ball from Imran Tahir and bends on one knee converting it into a full toss instead. Sweeps it over the square-leg boundary and over the fielder at the boundary for a SIX!

Oh dear! A thick edge off Hafeez's bat but Quinto de Kock fails to latch on as it hits his fingertips and drops near the stumps. A difficult but still a dropped chance for SA. Tahir feels disappointed but he is definitely bringing more eyes to this game with his bowling

Unfazed by Imam's dismissal, Babar hits back-to-back boundaries against Ngidi. The first one was a well-timed pull off a short ball that raced towards mid-wicket boundary. Next ball he drove the full ball from Ngidi straight past the bowler for another 4 runs

Another wicket for Tahir and he is now the leading wicket-taker for South Africa in World Cups - 39 in total. He surpasses the legendary Allan Donald. But what a catch from the 40-year old. Imam tries to run him down straight but Tahir dives to his right and picks the ball milimiteres above the ground. Brilliant from Tahir!

Mohammad Hafeez is the next man in for Pakistan

Babar has looked circumspect in his short stay at the crease till now but there were no two ways about his growing confidence as he unleashes a cover drive on the up on a ball from Ngidi which was still rising as it reached him

In an interesting bit of stat, Imran Tahir is now the oldest bowler ever to dismiss a PAK batsman at a World Cup. Before this Md. Yousuf's dismissal against Dutch Roland Lefebvre during the 2003 edition was the only other instance of a 40 year old dismissing a PAK batsman at CWC

Tahir finally has his revenge as he gets Fakhar caught by Amla for a soft dismissal. Fakhar would be disappointed with this scoop that he tried to play but only managed to loft a dolly to Amla who was standing at first slip.

A flighted delivery from Imran Tahir and is judged to perfection by Zaman as he gets leg-side of the ball and eases it past the mid-off and cover fielders for a well-timed four. He has really looked impressive in his shot-making today

It has been a great weekend at the CWC19 with 3 memorable back-to-back games being played out over the last couple of days after a largely predictable first 3 weeks. While SL stunned hosts and favourites England, Afg just stopped short from possibly the mother of all upsets when Shami decided to take things in his own hands. To top it all off, there was Carlos Brathwaite with a firefighting 101 of his own, only to be denied glory by a matter of millimetres

Big moment in the game. Fakhar Zaman is ruled not-out by the 3rd umpire after being given out caught by Tahir. Tahir was running in celebration after taking a diving catch but replays were inconclusive whether the ball had touched the grass before nestling into his hands. Tahir definitely felt that he had his fingers underneath. SA are bound to be disappointed

Andile Phehlukwayo to Fakhar Zaman, the bowler oversteps and the umpire signals a no-ball. The follow-up delivery is full and wide and Fakhar swings his arms. But the ball goes high up in the air landing safely 30 metres behind the straight boundary. No harm done for SA

Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq have brought up the 50-run opening stand in just the 8th over. This has been a fantastic start from both the Pakistan openers. They have been refreshingly fearless today and have taken the attack to Kagiso Rabada and Lungi Ngidi. Faf du Plessis brought Chris Morris into the attack but nothing has changed. Imam-ul-Haq leans forward and pushes it past the mid-off fielder to a boundary. 50-run opening stand for Pakistan!

Fakhar Zaman is showing no respect to two of the most lethal new-ball bowlers in world cricket. After going full and good length for the first 5 overs, Lungi Ngiidi tries to bounce Fakhar out. But the Pakistan opener is not going to be intimidated by it. Not much zip on the wicket and he launches it into the mid-wicket boundary. Delightful!

Expensive over from Lungi Ngidi. 12 runs from his 2nd over. There's no swing or seam movement for him. And Imam-ul-Haq makes full use of it. Two lovely cover drives in the South Africa pacer's 2nd over. A total of 3 in that over. Solid approach from the two Pakistan openers. They seem to have discussed about the lack of positive starts in this World Cup. This is a refreshing approach from the former champions, who are facing a must-win situation.

Fakhar Zaman is off to a strong start here. Despite the cloudy conditions, there's not much for the pacer bowlers. The left-handed Pakistan opener is relishing the pace on the ball. He has hit Kagiso Rabada for a couple of boundaries already. Top start this for Pakistan. Much-needed intent on display after the horror show against India 5 days ago in Manchester.

Faf du Plessis: There's pressure every game you play, especially in the World Cup; I don't think it's easy to get away from it. Two teams will try to play their best cricket today, hopefully it'll be exciting. We have got a little better every game. In the previous game we had an opportunity to launch in the last 10 overs, but we fell 10-15 runs short. But as a team we have gotten better with evey game. It's the same team, gives us a good balance. With Lungi back, hopefully he gets few wickets upfront. I was going to bowl first anyways, so it's a good toss to lose.

Sarfaraz Ahmed: We are going to bat first today. It looks a good wicket, we'll put runs on the board and defend it. We are focussing on this match, hopefully we do well. It's an important game for us as there are three matches remaning aftr this. If we focus on one game at a time, hopefully we'll do well. Pakistan have won the toss and have opted to bat against South Africa in a must-win game at Lord's in London on Sunday.

"There's some grass on the wicket but it's been well rolled. Batting first would be a good option as the surface is dry beneath," reckons Wasim Akram. It is less greener than it looked yesterday. It's gotten a trim but not a good one at that. It's that teenager's shave. Some bald patches surrounded by a smattering of grass.

South Africa and Pakistan are reeling at the 8th and 9th spot of the 10-team World Cup 2019 points table with just 1 win in the tournament.

Can South Africa still make it to the knock-out stages of World Cup 2019? Yes, they can still reach the semi-finals, but it would take a series of results going their way - while they would also need to win all three of their remaining fixtures. The Proteas have three fixtures left and if they win all of those then they will finish on 9 log points.

Pakistan have lost three matches and one wash-out from five games and now find themselves in exactly the same position as when they won the 1992 World Cup a tournament which, like this one, featured a round-robin group phase. Can Sarfaraz inspire Pakistan to a fairytale win in World Cup 2019?

Pakistan can include young pacer Mohammad Hasnain in the place of Hassan Ali. Shoaib Malik has also looked completely out of form in the tournament so Haris Sohail can replace him. South Africa will most likely go with the same squad.

Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has urged the cricket fans back home to refrain from abusing players but maintained they have every right to criticize the team.

Pakistan and South Africa cannot afford any further slip-ups if they want to stay alive in the 2019 edition of the World Cup. Pakistan have stayed true to their unpredictable nature -- losing to West Indies, Australia and India while beating hosts England - South Africa have been the biggest disappointment of this edition of the showpiece event as they have failed to even stage a fight.

For Pakistan, nothing has clicked. While the batting has been mediocre to say the least, the bowlers have failed to pick wickets at the top half of the innings. The fielding has been below average as usual.

But for South Africa, it has been a case of surrendering even before the choke has been applied. While their batting has left a lot to be desired, the worst part has been the fielding of a side that took world cricket by storm with its athletic fielders since their return to international cricket in 1992.
