Grimsby Town have announced the signing of free agent Filipe Morais as Ian Holloway looks to add more experience to his side.

The former Chelsea and Bradford City winger signs on a deal until June 2022, and is immediately available for the Mariners’ clash with Mansfield on Saturday.

Morais had been training with Town in the build-up to this weekend’s clash in League Two, having agreed to cancel his contract with Crawley back in September.

The Portuguese has not played any competitive football since January, when he was on loan at Oldham Athletic, but could be set to make his second appearance of the year against the Stags.

Speaking to Grimsby Town’s website, Morais said: "I'm delighted really, I am really excited to work under the manager.

"He's had an amazing career, I just want to learn from him, you can never stop learning and although I'm 35, I feel I've still got a lot to offer and I feel really good, so I can't wait to get straight into it.

"It's been really nice to get to know the lads, everyone seems to be good and professional, so I have really enjoyed my first few days.

"It's been really good [to start training], you can tell there is a lot of quality here, we have got a lot of young players but as the manager has said, once you get some experience in there it can definitely help those boys along more and that is what I will try to bring, I love playing for my teams, I am a real team player so if I can come in and help improve my teammates then that is what I want to do."
