Exclusive: Rangers star Kennedy ‘flattered’ after West Ham submit formal bid

Rangers have rejected a bid from West Ham for Kai Kennedy, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

The attacker, 19, is being pursued by the Premier League big guns after impressive Scottish Championship loan spells last season.

An industry source has told Football Insider that the club have tabled an offer in the region of £600,000 for Kennedy.

Rangers responded to the bid by knocking it back as they hope to keep the highly-rated winger at Ibrox.

Kennedy signed a new contract with the Gers in January that runs until the summer of 2023.

He spent last season on loan at Inverness Caley Thistle and Raith Rovers in what was his first extended taste of senior football.

The Scotland youth international admits he is flattered by the interest of West Ham and the potential opportunity to work under David Moyes.

“It is extremely flattering that West Ham have made an offer for me and it would be a great opportunity to be able to work with a top manager such as David Moyes, but I am a Rangers player until I am told otherwise,” Kennedy told Football Insider.

Kennedy’s agent, Paul Tait, confirmed West Ham’s interest in the attacker along with a number of other clubs.

“West Ham are very keen on Kai and they have shown that in their offers to Rangers,” Tait told Football Insider.

“There are a lot of clubs interested in Kai and we will have to wait and see what Rangers decide to do with him.”
