Leicester to pay record rugby transfer fee for England fly-half George Ford
GEORGE FORD will reportedly cost Leicester a record transfer fee of £500,000 when he rejoins the club from Bath at the end of the season.
The two clubs confirmed yesterday that Ford would be returning to the Midlands with fellow fly-half Freddie Burns going in the opposite direction.
The move sees both players returning to clubs they have played for before with Ford only have left the Tigers four years ago.
And The Times claim that Leicester have shelled out half a million pounds to secure his services, a record transfer fee for a player moving between English clubs.
Saints missed out on Ford, were rejected by Paddy Jackson and failed to convince the unions in Wales or Scotland to part with Dan Biggar or Finn Russell respectively.
It means Stephen Myler will continue in his role for Northampton as he has for the last 11 years, the 32-year-old having just passed 2,500 points for the club.
