Leicester manager Rodgers has ideas of taking over at Chelsea at the end of the season.

It comes as pressure ramps up on Lampard amid a torrid run for the Blues in the Premier League.

Five defeats in eight have left Chelsea ninth in the table, while confidence is at an all-time low.

Club owner Abramovich forked out a lot of money over the summer, principally on German duo Timo Werner and Kai Havertz who are yet to shine.

It is just one of a litany of problems Lampard faces at Stamford Bridge and there are several managers already eyeing his job.

One of them is Rodgers, who inflicted the latest defeat on the Blues on Tuesday night after Wilfred Ndidi and James Maddison both scored in a 2-0 result at the King Power Stadium.

According to the Mirror, Chelsea are considering the Northern Irishman as manager if they decide to sack Lampard.

He is one of several options that the club are looking at, with Thomas Tuchel and Julian Nagelsmann also linked.

Rodgers is well-known at Stamford Bridge, having been a first-team coach while Jose Mourinho was there in his first spell.

And the Mirror further report that the ex-Liverpool boss is considering a move to Chelsea, though any decision will be made at the end of the season.

Leicester are surprise title contenders this year and sit third in the league behind leaders Manchester United and Manchester City.

Lampard is in desperate need of a victory against Luton Town in the FA Cup today but has insisted he is not worried about his job.

"I don't listen to it," he said about the speculation over his future.

"It's only everywhere if you want to scroll through social media or something, but I don't do that.

"I'm not stupid, I know the pressures that come with managing a top football club, but I just do my job, it doesn't matter to me.

"The pressure is fine, you're obviously happier when you're winning games. I was obviously happier in October and November than now. I just have to get on with the job."
