A lot of news has been shared about EA’s upcoming new shooter, Battlefield 5.

Confirmed today as being a WW2 epic, developers Dice also revealed they had plans to offer both a single-player mode, and a coop experience.

“Battlefield 5 is a homecoming for DICE as a studio—a return to the era that came to define the Battlefield franchise,” said Oskar Gabrielson, General Manager, DICE.

“But as nostalgic as we are about World War 2, we wanted to challenge the preconception of the era with an unexpected portrayal of this familiar setting.

“Our vision with Battlefield V is to let players explore new and untold sides of the conflict that shaped the modern world.

“The scale of each battle and level of immersion is unlike anything we’ve done before in Battlefield and players are in for an epic journey.”

Some other big news that was confirmed this week includes EA’s plans for a Battlefield 5 beta.

It has now been revealed that players who pre-order any edition of the game with the Battlefield V Enlister Offer will get early access to the Open Beta.

There has been no confirmation on when the BF5 beta may be held, but we do know that it will eventually become open to everyone to try out, pre-order or not.

When it comes to the release date of Battlefield 5, EA say the game will hit shelves on October 19.

However, fans that order the Battlefield V Deluxe Edition will get access three days early on October 16, while EA Access and Origin Access members will be able to jump into the Play First Trial on October 11.

The company used the same style of rolling release date with Battlefield 1 so the announcement was expected.

EA also announced today that in celebration of the upcoming launch, DICE are giving all Battlefield players the opportunity to download content from Battlefield 1 and Battlefield 4 for free on the Road to Battlefield V.

Now for a limited time, players can download and keep Battlefield 1 In the Name of the Tsar and Battlefield 4 Final Stand.

In the Name of the Tsar is an expansion that’s part of the BF1 Premium Pass, something that EA are not including with BF5.

“Tides of War is DICE’s new approach to live services, where players will set out on an epic journey with their Company in unexpected battles throughout World War 2," a message from Dice explains.

“There will be no premium pass, all players will have access to the same maps and modes, keeping the community unified as they progress through Battlefield V.

“In Tides of War, their journey through World War 2 will grow through themed experience that will include events and all-new ways to play like Grand Operations, while also unlocking the latest themed rewards such as weapons and vehicles to further shape their Company.”
