Swiss club involved in Florian Kamberi deal set to rival Hibs in chase for Rangers' McCrorie

The Super League runners-up gave Kamberi his Hibs exit and now want another player from the Premiership

LYON, FRANCE - JULY 16: Ross McCrorie during the friendly match between Lyon and Rangers at the Groupama Stadium on July 16, 2020, in Lyon, France.

Swiss club St Gallen have launched a bid to sign Rangers midfielder Ross McCrorie from under the noses of Hibernian - just a week after signing Florian Kamberi from the Easter Road side.

The Super League runners-up have registered an interest in bringing the versatile 22-year-old to the club on a loan deal, however the Ibrox outfit are only interested in a permanent move for the midfielder.

Hibs tested Rangers' resolve with a £200,000 bid on Wednesday, but the Govan side knocked that back after deciding it did not meet their valuation of the player.

Jack Ross wants the former Portsmouth loanee to bolster his squad after an impressive start to the campaign.

McCrorie is said to be keen on the move after falling down the pecking order at his boyhood heroes.

But St Gallen are hoping to jump the queue by offering the lure of European football following a second-place finish in the Swiss top flight last season.

The move would be the latest in a transfer merry-go-round between the three clubs.
