Hibs are aware of suggestions Celtic will make a move for Jack Ross if Neil Lennon leaves the club soon.

The Easter Road boss is understood to be highly-rated within the Celtic setup with members of the board keeping a close eye on his progress through his career.

And Graeme Mathie admits he isn't surprised clubs are looking at Ross and hailed him as a top coach and manager, but insists he's going nowhere soon.

Ross has impressed since returning to Scotland with Hibs after a spell at Sunderland and Mathie hopes nobody will coming in for hi in the coming weeks and months.

The Easter Road men sit third in the Premiership, just two points behind Celtic in second place - although they have played two games more.

And Mathie told the Edinburgh Evening News: “Unfortunately, you just never know. But I’m not naive. We understand that Jack is a highly regarded head coach and manager, as he should be, and just as we are aware that our talented players might be wanted by others in January or at the end of the season, we also have to be aware of all of these other things and prepare appropriately.

“It is something I hope does not come across my desk any time soon. I think Jack is in the right place.”
