A90 in Edinburgh won't be closed this weekend as bridge works have been postponed

The busy route was due to close for two days but the Burnshot Bridge works have been rescheduled

What the new bridge will look like

The A90 in Edinburgh will no longer be closed for two days as part of the Burnshot Bridge replacement works this weekend, as the works have been postponed.

We previously reported that the busy route would be off-limits to traffic at Craigiehall, just north of Cramond Brig, from 8pm on Friday to 7pm on Sunday.

However, a City of Edinburgh Council spokesperson has said that "contractors have had to reschedule work to lift beams onto Burnshot Bridge this weekend, which means the A90 will no longer be closed."

She confirmed that the council will update us about the new date for the works when they have it.

The £3million project to build a new bridge, which will run across the A90 near Kirkliston, started in April following the demolition of the original structure two years ago.

Reduced speed limits have been in-place on both the northbound and southbound routes, with police regularly monitoring the stretch of road for speeding.

The new Burnshot Bridge is expected to open in spring time.
