Derby County 'golden' boy stars for England

Liam Delap was top scorer at a tournament in Turkey

Derby County youngster Liam Delap starred on the international stage at a tournament in Turkey.

Delap, the son of former Rams player and coach Rory, was part of the England Under-16 squad that took part in the Mercedes Benz Aegean Tournament.

The teenager finished top scorer overall with four goals, earning him the Golden Boot award.

He opened his account in England's first match - a 2-0 victory over Albania, and followed that up with a brace in a 5-1 win against Moldova.

He was on target again as Kevin Betsy's side took on the hosts but a 2-1 defeat left them facing a play-off for third place.

They duly clinched third spot with victory over Russia.

Following a 1-1 draw, England triumphed 4-2 on penalties, with Delap scoring in the shoot-out.
